With all of the home decorating stores, shops and stands out there, most with outrageous prices ($75 for a wreath of sticks… really?) it is easy to see how decorating your house can seem intimidating. Fortunately there are plenty of ways to decorate your house without taking out a personal loan or refinancing you home.
One way to make decorating your home more manageable is to take one room, or even one wall, at a time. Looking at your entire house and trying to do it all at once is daunting. You start doing one thing in each room and soon you’ve spent a ton of money and it doesn’t look like you’ve done a thing to your home. Doing one room at a time, you will be able to see large changes in your home, even when you are taking small steps.
Next, hit the dollars racks, dollar stores and craft stores. Often times finding picture frames that are unpainted or crafts that are do-it-yourself are significantly cheaper than those put together by celebrities or interior designers. Also the dollar store quality may not be quite as high as those other store, but how often do you handle the items you hang on your wall or set one your shelf. My guess is rarely, if ever, no one will ever even know. Also remember, when you place things on a higher shelf, the paint job doesn’t have to be perfect because the farther away you are from something, the more the details don’t matter. So don’t get to the bank to take a personal loan to beautify your house or refinance the entire house to just make it look a little better. If you aren’t creative enough to come up with ideas on your own simply wander through a craft store or search online for home decorating ideas.
